Last night we went and saw a Christmas Carol at Hale Center Theater. As I reflected on the story, I thought of one thing, I really, really love a Christmas Carol. Any version of it really! (Of course, I think my favorite is still Bill Murray in Scrooged)
There is something about it that stirs that human emotion to connect to fellow man. To not live life shut in and focused on the things that really don't matter. The line that rings true is Jacob Marley, "Business! Business!, Mankind should have been my business!" And then burdened to forever wander the world with the chains of regret and remorse.
It is interesting how easy it is to be so consumed with ones own struggles, or goals, or needs, and not see the chains of burdens we have created for ourselves. And then you wake up, and find that years have just slipped by.
So as a new year and decade are coming up quick, it is a nice chance to slow down and really think how can Mankind be my business!
